My baby turns 1 yr old today.

Just 3 minutes ago in fact. It amazes me that just a year ago this sweet little girl came into our lives. Every day there is a smile on her face (at some point) and she lives each day with so much vigor and excitement. I am so grateful the Lord decided to bless us with her.

This was taken Christmas day at Joel’s cousin’s house. She was so proud to be sitting in the big girl chair.

Sick

My sweet baby is sick this morning.  She wasn’t feeling great at Thanksgiving but it cleared up for the most part.  Since then she’s had an annoying little cough that I said I would mention when we go to the doctor for her 1 yr well baby.  Well that was before last night.

We put her to bed and she woke three times with coughing fits before we even went to bed.  I went to bed knowing that it would be a rough night.  We woke at 4:00 and I went to her.  That lasted a few minutes and then Joel got up with her.  It lasted until 5:15 ish.  We tried to put her in bed with us but she wouldn’t have it.  I sat in the rocking chair with her and nursed her until she dosed off.  We were up at 6:30.

She’s only taken an hour nap this morning and her eyese won’t quit tearing up.  Her nose is red and snot bubbles are the norm as are rivers coming from it.  She’s clingy and miserable.  I called the nurse and asked her what she thought and I was told to come in.  So 2:00 today, we’re headed to see Dr. Simon.  Hopefully I can’t make it with my sanity in tact.

I keep telling myself that just going to the dr. isn’t going to make my life any easier this afternoon but maybe we’ll see a marked improvement quickly thereafter.

Mac and Cheese

Let me preface this by saying that I wish that I had had a picture of this.  It did cross my mind but by then I was on the floor already and Celia was occupying Ruthie so I didn’t get it.

So today for lunch I made mac n cheese.  I was looking forward to it as a hot meal on a cool day.  I got a phone call while I preparing it but it wasn’t a big deal as Ruthie had been doing fairly well.  I put two bowls on the table along with Ruthie’s meal and silverware.  All I needed was a drink for Celia which I was preparing.  I turned around to find Ruthie amidst a bowl of mac n cheese all over the floor.  Celia came immediately to whisk Ruthie off and try to calm her hurt feelings.  I cleaned the floor and got Ruthie in her chair along with Celia at her spot at the table.

Seeing that breakfast went so well today, I didn’t think lunch would be any problem.  Apparently I was wrong.   She ate a few bites of Strawberry applesauce, a few bites of her turkey stew, a few bites of cheese (which she then threw most of it on the floor) and half a yogurt.  I finally gave up and cleaned her up.  I let her get up, gave her froggie, and I proceeded to clean up the kitchen.  She played a bit on the floor and then layed down while sucking on froggie.  She did it twice so I scooped her up and took her to bed.  She immediately went to sleep.  While it is nice to have a little bit of time, I must say that I’m worried that she may be still fighting the bug she had yesterday.

So at 3:30 today, I am watching my ex-bosses little girl as well.  She’s 4 and loves Ruthie.  I hope Ruthie is up for playing.  She’ll be here until around 6:30 or so and will probably eat dinner with us as well.

Just another day in our household which has quickly become a very busy one at that.

Walmart Chaos

I found it odd this morning that Ruthie wasn’t eating like normal. I tried oatmeal and waffles and she only ate about half of what she normally does.  She took a great morning nap and when she woke, we were off to do our errands.  For lunch, we ended up back at home and she didn’t eat very well then either.  I chalked it up to her eating like a bird one day and a pig the next.  No big deal, right?  Well, then Walmart happened.

We (Celia, Ruthie and I) were happily going up and down the aisles trying to hurry to get Ruthie back for her nap when midway through aisle 12, she hurled the entire contents of her stomach.  What a mess.  I left Celia with her so I could find an employee to get someone to clean up the floor.  Then I sent her to the car (twice b/c I forgot to give her the keys the first time) so I could have my diaper bag.  I pulled her shirt off of her and put her jacket on her alone.  Upon the floor being cleaned up, we found an outfit for her, went to the front of the store to pay for it, then back the rear of the store so I could find the bathrooms to change her.  Not only her, the buggie cover, the frog, everything.  And then we were able to continue shopping.

I didn’t know a shopping trip to Walmart would be so adventurous.  I’m exhausted and don’t even want to think about finishing off the errands later this afternoon after her nap.  That is if she is at all up for it.

I will be glad when this day is over.
